Description

EDEN—the flux-artwork—is still in search of collectors, venturing to one of the ­sanctuaries of contemporary art: the Venice Biennale 2022. Navigating pavilion after pavilion, through the Giardini, the Arsenale, from Cannaregio to Giudecca, and even online, it ­encounters diverse nations, remarkable art, and the general public.

EDEN integrates into the Biennale’s grand décor, manifesting as photographs or videos captured via smartphone. Amidst the artworks and spectators, it strikes poses centre stage. At times, the character appears embodied in a flesh-and-blood double, leading ­visitors to believe they are witnessing a live performance. EDEN now teeters on the boundary between the virtual and the tangible. It is real, yet yearns to touch objects.

True to its nature, EDEN transitions across mediums—from Minitel to tablet, iPad to smartphone-captured photos or videos, ultimately returning to the blockchain of its ­origins. In Venice, EDEN will not receive any awards. It dreamt of a lion, or rather, a golden lioness.
