Description

EDEN is akin to a ghost in the machine. Like all artworks seeking collectors, it presents itself on social networks before transforming into collectible cards.

In this realm, entities are divided into series, episodes, and extensions. Pokémon is in the DNA of NFT. So EDEN adopts a serial format: four episodes, each comprising three cards.

The first card references both social media clichés and variously recognised works of art. EDEN aspires to emulate others; the NFT community often references art history, ­repurposing its images and codes.

Engaging with art history is essential for any object to attain the status of a work of art; it’s integral to the artistic process. This interaction bestows a form of ­permanence upon the artwork. What better way to achieve immortality than to remain a subject of discussion?

Each episode ends in a somewhat similar fashion. The image gradually transforms. EDEN embraces glitch culture, involving more or less intentional digital alterations—a common practice in digital art. Ultimately, all episodes culminate in a memento mori.

EDEN is a cheerful NFT. Minted on the Ethereum blockchain and published on the ­SuperRare platform, it finds its place within the New French Touch space, bringing together a ­diverse group of artists. It is later transported to New York as an installation, where it will be showcased in two galleries.

EDEN has entered the art world.
